Paul, Jan, Rob, and Coach Rob at Pasta Party

America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride lived up to its reputation…it is truly a breathtaking experience to ride around this lake surrounded by snow-capped mountains!   Riding with me were two Virginia teammates, Rob and Paul from the Richmond area, and my coach, Rob Leonard.  Interesting that all four of us are cancer survivors…  We shared the road with 3400 cyclists and lots of cars…so it is a “heads-up” ride.  The views can be distracting but no one can resist keeping one eye on the road and the other on the view.  Over 1500 cyclists were Team in Training participants, and they raised $6.8 million for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  GO TEAM!!!  Thanks to so many of you, I raised $14,000 for this event, more than I typically raise in a whole year.  We remembered Kaye Kriz and Mike Houston throughout this very special weekend of pasta party,  team meetings, the spectacular ride, and the victory party.  Travel went smoothly, with bags and bikes making all three flights each way.  The cold rain that lasted into Saturday night magically vanished and we had a dry, sunny day for the ride.  Seemed like a minor miracle that it was warmer than usual at the start (47 instead of 36 degrees), and that it remained sunny and cool (high 62) throughout the day.  It was such a great day!!!  Thanks to all who contributed and made this event possible.  YES – I’ve signed up for another cycle event – the Seagull Century on Oct. 10, Eastern Shore of MD.  And YES, I’m raising funds.  GO TEAM!!!
